Apple iPod
iPod is a line of portable media players to create and market an Apple announced on October 23, 2001 and published November 10, 2001. Configuring the product is currently made up of hard drive-based iPod Classic, touchscreen iPod Touch, iPod Nano compact and very compact, the iPod Shuffle. iPod Classic models store media, internal hard drive, while all other models use flash memory for its smaller size (outside used Mini Microdrive miniature hard drive). Like many other digital music players, iPods can also be the external data storage devices. Actual capacity varies depending on model, up to 2 GB iPod Shuffle iPod Classic 160 GB. All models have been redesigned several times since their introduction. The most recent redesigns the iPod was introduced on 1 September 2010.
Apple's iTunes software can be used to transfer music to devices from computers using certain versions of Apple Macintosh and Microsoft Windows operating systems. For users who choose not to use iTunes, or whose computers can not run iTunes are several open source alternatives available for the iPod. iTunes and its alternatives may also transfer photos, videos, games, contact information, e-mail settings, Web bookmarks and calendars to iPod models supporting those features.
For IOS versions before IOS 5, the iPod brand is also used for media player applications included in the iPhone and the iPhone, the iPhone version is essentially a combination of music and video applications on the iPod Touch. (Until 5 IOS, the separate application called "Music" and "Video" should be standardized for all products IOS power.) In both cases, the iPhone and the iPhone have essentially the same capabilities as a media player line the iPod, but generally are treated as separate products.
Model line includes the discontinued iPod Mini and iPod Photo, iPod Nano replaces the first, and return it to the main line of iPod (iPod Classic now).
